This past weekend The Island Hotel in Newport Beach invited my boyfriend and I in for a staycation. We arrived on Saturday afternoon and were in for a total treat. Not only is the hotel in an ideal location in Newport (it is walking distance to Fashion Island, hello shopping!), but it is seriously gorgeous inside. We had the most beautiful suite with a lovely ocean view and if you saw my instagram stories from the weekend, you know what I am talking about. We immediately dropped off our bags and went to the pool for a little fun in the sun. I have been dying to read the rest of my book, “The Luckiest Girl Alive,” and couldn’t wait to dive in and relax. Later on, we showered and changed and went down to The Oak Grill for dinner. Not going to lie, we may have eaten everything on the menu because we couldn’t decide what we wanted. We each ended up ordering fish (me the halibut and Nathan the sea bass) and it was absolutely perfect. After dinner, we decided to go up to the island lounge on the top floor of the hotel for a nightcap before heading back to the room. This is an awesome hidden secret at the hotel and they have yummy happy hour nibbles from 5-7pm as well as a pretty great breakfast spread in the morning. I highly suggest taking advantage when at the hotel.
When we got back to the room, I somehow convinced Nathan to watch the new 50 Shades Darker flick on tv but I may or may not have fallen asleep several times trying to watch the whole movie. Sunday we slept in and it felt amazing. I almost stole my pillows because they were seriously comfortable and I may need to invest in them for my bed at home. We hit the gym (which I didn’t want to do but was happy afterward) and the gym had a great view of the pool which I was eagerly eyeing while pretending to workout on the treadmill. Obviously we ended up at the pool again because why not? Staycations are for relaxing as much as possible right? I scooted off to the spa for a massage while Nathan hung by the pool reading and getting some sun.
Not going to lie, the spa was one of my favorite parts. I had one of the best massages of my life. It was 90 minutes of heaven and I fell asleep during it which never happens. I left feeling so relaxed and they give you frozen grapes when your massage is over which is a nice touch.
We both left Sunday feeling so rested and couldn’t stop talking about how much fun we had over the course of 24 hours. Needless to say, we can’t wait to go back. xoxo
*A special thank you to The Island Hotel for the most lovely weekend.
